“識聽唔識講” is a go-to phrase for those among us who can understand but can’t speak Cantonese. Whether it’s that shameful moment when our parents’ friends ask if we know Chinese, or the awkward times where we’re asked a question in Canto by a waiter, at least we have this expression in our back pockets. 😅
